I have this theory that the reason why so many YA novels are so fucking awful is for the purpose of stopping teenagers from reading, so they can have something to complain about how “THIS GENERATION DOESN’T READ!” while they pump out shitty books geared towards the aforementioned generation and keep the vicious cycle in place.
Thank god I learned how to read adult novels before I hit the YA target audience, otherwise I’d be forced to suffer through that when trying to find something to read.
